WHAT I DO AND WHY YOU NEED ME
My name is Gu Jian, the founder of Stockholm-based company Gu & Co. whose purpose is to facilitate and to realize new business opportunities between the West and China.
The language is actually not your only problem when venturing into China, challenges of culture are often much harder to understand and tackle, the how, when, where and even the why business is successful. This is why you need me, because I understand both Chinese business culture and stand with one foot on each side and will connect you with the right people, done the right way.
Recently, I successfully helped a major Swedish company to bring home a €2million contract for wooden houses, a deal that was on the brink of falling through numerous times during the complicated process.
I interpret and translate, I search for partners or qualified suppliers, I organize and accompany you on business trips to China. By providing hands-on support, I ensure that your Chinese venture will proceed with ease.
ABOUT MYSELF
I came to Sweden from China 7 years ago, for my graduate studies. I acquired two Master’s degrees from the two best technology universities in Sweden – The Royal Institute of Technology and Chalmers University, in multi-disciplinary areas of business, IT and design.
After graduation, I founded GU DESIGN, which has provided design services to a broad international client base – Swedish, Chinese, British, Danish, German, American.
While growing GU DESIGN and networking to establish our client base, I discovered it requires a certain personality to build business partnerships. It demands a lot of energy and discipline, but I truly enjoy this “people side” of business - to understand people, connect people and to make business happen between people. This is why I started Gu & Co., a company dedicated to my services for facilitating international businesses.
I was then asked to coordinate a Nobel Prize committee member’s visit to China, facilitate the recording of China’s world famous pianist Lang Lang for a Warner Brothers movie, and most recently, to provide agent and project management services to help secure the contract for the first ever wooden house export from Sweden to China.
I know the language and the business culture, I have first-hand experience and the connections, I am aware of the possible problems and I find the solutions. Most importantly, I help you to build good relationships, which, a lot of times, is vital for succeeding in the Chinese business environment.
