The Chinese delegation's first visit to A-hus AB

The first ever wooden house export
from Sweden to China

Initiated contact between the Chinese firm, which was a government entity, and the Swedish company A-hus AB; organized the Chinese firm's visit to Sweden; accompanied A-hus' top managers and engineers on three visits to China; arranged and liaised meetings with key persons from the Chinese side; facilitated crucial negotiations until the contract was signed; networked, gave cultural advice to each side, interpretation and translation.

Communication and collection of information form many sources was necessary on a daily basis to decipher the true meaning of every word, in order to put together a picture of what was really going on with our competitors in China (it’s really not the Chinese norm to be straightforward).

Once construction of the wooden houses began in China, I was required to live on site, under harsh conditions, taking care of six Swedish carpenters and the project - dealing with disputes, technical problems, the complicated relationships with and between every layer of the hierarchy in the Chinese companies.

Eight large Swedish wooden houses are now beautifully finished and were opened to the public as five star hotels on Xiling Mountain in August 2010.

 
It's a completely different business culture, an invisible set of rules. Our agent and interpreter, who is from the Sichuan province, is of great service to us. She gives me hints, like when to give a toast and who to sit next to. If it wasn't for the China-order A-Hus would most likely have had to decrease its workforce, but instead we could actually employ some extra personell during the spring and summer.

Coordinated Hollywood film composer Henning Lohner's trip to China. Facilitated recording of the world renowned Chinese pianist Lang Lang.

When the deadline was quickly approaching for recording the theme song in Chinese, I was sent by the music producer to talk to the production team in China, after their weeks of fruitless effort, in order to bring this idea forward. I successfully persuaded them to find Miss Shang Wen Jie, a winner of the “Super Girl” show – the Chinese equivalent of “American Idol” – and got the vocal recorded within 10 days.

Mr.Göran Malmqvist's visit to Chengdu, China

Successfully established contact with the world renowned sinologist, Nobel Prize committee member Mr.Göran Malmqvist and invited him to Chengdu on behalf of the Sichuan government. Accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Malmqvist for the entire trip.
